Saloni,my student of post graduation came to me and said "I want to teach as professor in this classroom where I am being taught as a student, this is my dream".Encouraging her I said"Dream is a wish your heart makes.Believe it,work for it and make it come true" She gave a broad smile of commitment.Saloni was an average student with humble background. Her father worked as a mason and mother worked in the homes of people to make both ends meet.Paying college fees was an herculean task for her so coaching for UGC NET( University Grant Commission,National Eligibility Test)mandatory to join as Assistant Professor in college was a distant dream for her.I kept on telling her to make full use of college library and join free online classes for coaching.
One fine day she came with box of sweets and tears of joy in her eyes and said "Ma'am I have cleared NET" We,her professors blessed her and now she has joined us as our faculty in the department. I congratulated her parents who said that she burnt midnight oil to realize her dream. When we got her achievement published in the local newspapers she told us how people in her village thronged her humble abode and asked her to guide their children. What a proud moment it must have been for her family!
As she goes to teach in the same room where she was taught I often think a dream may be a flicker but it can light many candles in your life. The future definitely belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Saloni's accomplishment may be small for many but the odd circumstances in which she attained her goal is worthy of emulation.
Conception of dreams isn't limited to one individual but extend to the treasure trove of interesting and inspiring stories. These stories make one think that you can soar high in sky, find the way and get through the hurdles by sheer grit and determination.Albert Einstein was a genius but everyone didn't think so.He couldn't speak till he was 4 years old and didn't read until he was 7.His parents thought he was a slow learner and a recluse. He was expelled from school and was refused admission in Zurich Polytechnic School but nothing could deter him to change the face of physics and he won Nobel prize proving everyone wrong. One may or may not believe in the stories of dreams come true but life devoid of dreams and their insight would be dull and dreary.Dreams are the first steps that teach you to be courageous and then your heart knows how to nurture them.Water them with worry and fear, you will wade through weeds and choke their life.Water them with holy waters of optimism and faith in divine power and revel in them.History is replete with many legends and luminaries who dreamt big and doing it reached to the top.Dreams are the footsteps of our character.I staunchly believe in dreams. In dreams of gleeful and glorious euphoria I partake cosmic energy, revelling in dreams I remain soaring high in serene sky,I thrive, throb and twirl in trance in dreams, blessed by magical Divinity I wish to be a dreamer till I meet Almighty Supreme. How true are the words of English writer Mark Twain "Throw off your bowlines, sail away from the safe harbors, catch the trade winds in your sails.Explore, dream, discover" ©️ Ritu Kamra Kumar
